The Australian Jack Miller said Monday that he was lucky to get out alive after suffering a heavy fall at the start of the Malaysian MotoGP Grand Prix held on Sunday.
The KTM rider was involved in what could have been a dramatic incident where his South African teammate Brad Binder and Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) were involved in the second corner of the first lap of the Sepang race.
The three left the track, and Miller’s head apparently hit the back of Quartararo’s motorcycle.
The 29-year-old driver had to be treated at the track before being taken to a medical center, but In the end, he did not sustain serious injuries.
“I was lucky to escape unscathed… Thanks for all the kind messages“, the Australian published in a message on Instagram.
The race was interrupted by a red flag and, when it resumed, Binder tried to make a comeback, but retired due to soreness in his left shoulder.
“Today is a harsh reminder of the dangers our drivers face every time they line up on the grid.KTM said in a statement.
“Brad attempted to make the second start, but shoulder pain prevented him from starting safely.“said the team’s race director, Francesco Guidotti. “Jack was examined at the medical center, but he returned to the box and was pulled.”
