Los Angeles FC, in the ‘semi’ of the West

Date:

Los Angeles FC (LAFC) won this Friday 1-0 against Vancouver Whitecaps, they eliminated the Canadians in the first round of the ‘playoffs’ of MLS (2-1 best of three) and met the Seattle Sounders in the West semifinals. Polish Mateusz Bogusz, after a great individual game, scored the winning goal for the Angelenos in the 62nd minute in the third and final match.

LAFC struck first (2-1) in this best-of-three series but last Sunday Vancouver responded 3-0 forcing a third and final match. The MLS Cup champion in 2022 and runner-up in 2023, LAFC finished this year’s regular season in first place in the West while the Vancouver Whitecaps finished eighth after making it through to the wild card, where they destroyed the Portland Timbers by 5-0.

LAFC, who this year are also runners-up in the Leagues Cup, will meet in the Western semifinals against Seattle Sounders (fourth), who defeated Houston Dynamo (fifth) 2-0 in their series.

On the other side of the table from the same conference, LA Galaxy (second) also quickly got rid of Colorado Rapids (seventh) 2-0 and will face Minnesota United (sixth), who have also won two games in a row to be eliminated Real Salt Lake (third) 2-0.

Unlike the first round, the rest of the MLS playoff series is played in a single match and in the stadium of the team that earned the best place in the regular season.
