Fransérgio, Brazilian midfielder for Portuguese Marítimo, announced this Tuesday in a press conference that he will leave the club he joined four months ago to devote himself to his son, who suffers from autism.
Supported by his teammates, the Madeira club board and his family, Fransérgio explained that his son “got worse” since they arrived in Funchal four months ago, that’s why he decided to terminate the contract that ties him to Marítimo until June 2026.
Fransérgio reveals that he will return to Brazil because his son has the resources he needs there.
Now, at age 34, he explains that He will be a month without playing with any team and then he intends to do it again, although his future is not specified, except to return to live in Brazil with his family.
Fransérgio, who now wears a t-shirt in support of autism, arrived in the Portuguese League in 2014 with Marítimo, a club where he played until Braga signed him in 2017 and in 2021 he moved to the French Girondins de Bordeaux. After a spell in Coritiba in his country (2023-2024), he returned to Marítimo.
