The FIFA has announced the list of nominees for the awards The Best FIFA Football Awards 2024which will recognize the stars of the year in men’s and women’s soccer, both for clubs and national teams. It is now possible to vote in various award categories on FIFA.com, according to the International Football Federation in a note.
In this edition, fans will be able to vote for the winners of The Best FIFA Football Player Award, The Best FIFA Women’s Player Award, The Best FIFA Men’s Football Coach Award, The Best FIFA Women’s Football Coach Award.
Also in The Best FIFA Goalkeeper Award and The Best FIFA Goalkeeper Award, the votes of the fans will have equal weight with the current captains and coaches of the men’s and women’s national teams, as well as with media representatives. This time, the FIFA Fan Award winner will be chosen exclusively by the fans, while a panel of experts will select the recipient of the FIFA Fair Play Award. The winners of the new FIFA Marta Award and the FIFA Puskás Award will be chosen by the fans and also by a panel of FIFA Legends, whose vote will have equal weight.
Fans will join the ‘ideal eleven’
But what is new in this edition of The Best FIFA Football Awards is that fans will have the opportunity to participate in the selection of The Best Award for FIFA men’s eleven and The Best Award for FIFA women’s eleven. So, fans can choose their players from a list of 77 nominees (22 defenders, 22 midfielders and 22 forwards, including eleven goalkeepers) and place them to form their team. The votes of the fans will be equal in value to the votes of a panel of experts.
The FIFA Puskás Award is awarded to the scorer of the best goal in men’s football, regardless of championship or nationality. For the first time, the FIFA Marta Award, named in honor of the Brazilian legend, will be awarded to the best goal in any women’s league on the planet. The deadline to vote on FIFA.com ends at 11:59 pm (CET) next Tuesday, December 10, and the rules for awarding all awards are available on the FIFA Digital Hub.
