Joan Laporta and Lilian Thuram launched the UNESCO Fit for Life Network against Racism

FC Barcelona, ​​​​​​through its Foundation, and various elite athletes, such as former Barcelona players and activists Lilian Thuramjoin for the first time the Fit For Life network, a UNESCO initiative where organizations and athletes from different disciplines come together to fight racism in sports around the world. Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, ​​​​​​​​​​will lead the event, which will take place next Monday, December 9 at 4 pm in the Auditori 1899 of the Spotify Camp Nou.

The Suitable for Life Network Against Racism wants to connect athletes, professionals, researchers and sports and international organizations to carry out high-impact actions at the global level and is part of a joint strategy.

The event will also be attended by Gabriela RamosDeputy Director General of UNESCO, and the Director General of the Foundation, Dr. Marta Segú. The directors of both entities will explain the joint initiatives they will take to fight racism and discrimination, and in favor of other causes such as gender equality and social inclusion, among others.

During the event, a round table will take place where three elite athletes will participate to talk about racism and discrimination in the world of sport: Lilian Thuramformer player of FC Barcelona and the French soccer team and president of the Fundació Educación contra el Racismo; Aauri BokesaOlympic athlete in the 400 meters and represented Spain at the London, Rio and Tokyo Olympic Games; and Chatilla Van GrinsvenDutch professional basketball player.

These three personalities will explain their personal experience regarding the issue of racism and will talk about the joint initiatives that must be promoted within the framework of the Fit for Life Network against Racism to fight this scourge that affects the world of sport in a more intense way.

This event will take place within the framework of the 4th Global Forum against Racism and Discrimination of UNESCOwhich is celebrated this year in Barcelona on December 10 and 11.
