Commander of Pau, 17 years old, is one of the stars of the youth academyReal Madrid and one of the players with the most future in Spanish football. The forward was interviewed by DAZN where he spoke about his arrival in the elite, his origins and his connection to the club of his life, Real Madrid.
Debut in the first team last year
“I was only called once and, when they called me again, all the time I thought that there could be that opportunity and when it comes… In the end if you debut in any team that’s fine, but when you do it in the club of your life, the debut there is incredible and mainly because of the feeling of my family, with all the work we’ve done and all the sacrifices we’ve made together, it’s a pride.
Your present moment
“At 17 years old, the fact that he is achieving this is very great. I didn’t think about it. Even if it’s not here, because it’s a dream for every girl and in the end dreams seem so far away, but it came true.”
Call with the U-23 team
“The U19 list comes out and I’m not there and of course, I haven’t seen it. And my teammates told me, ‘Pau, you might be in the U23, think about it…’. And I talked to the coach and he told me yes, that I would probably go up and then they called me and confirmed it.
The importance of the environment
“There is pressure, but I think that around me I have people who contribute a lot to me, both in the team and in the National Team and in my family. They have helped me a lot to manage it, to be calm and to normalize it and the truth is that I am fine, even though it is difficult.”
