Fulham beat Brighton and move closer to Europe

Date:

Brighton is back in its aspirations to compete in the next edition of the Champions Leagueafter losing 3-1 on Thursday in their visit to the Fulham field in a match where the ‘seagulls’ paid for the loss due to a lack of success in front of the opposition goal. Quite the opposite of Fulham, who with the help of an inspiration Alex Iwobiauthor of the double, punished the errors of a Brighton who, led by it offensive angeragain conceding too much in defence.

Failures such as made after four minutes by the goalkeeper Bart Verbruggenwho in his attempt to get the ball from his own area gave it to the Nigerian Iwobiwho did not waste the ‘gift’ of the Dutch goalkeeper to sign the 1-0.

A goal that, far from scaring the visitors, seemed to give wings to the German team. Fabian Hurzelerwho not only took the ball, but led a great João Pedro They began to arrive with increasing danger in the local area.

Only the lack of success of the visiting attackers, who enjoyed some clear opportunities in the boots of the Ivorian Simon AdigraBrighton were unable to level the contest before the break.

A script that did not change in the second half, where the ‘seagulls’ finally found reward for their offensive ambition in goal by Cameroonian Carlos Balebawho established a 1-1 score in the 59th minute by finishing off a superb assist from Brazilian Joao Pedro with a powerful left footed shot.

But just when everything seemed more favorable for Brighton to complete the comeback, the Fulham got on the scoreboard again (2-1) with an own goal from the Danish midfielder Matt O’Riley in 79 minutes.

All a blow for the gueststhat eight minutes later surely waved goodbye to any chance of winning with a goal from Iwobi, who scored the final 3-1 in 87 which relegated Brighton from the Champions League positions they started the day in.
