Date:

Mexican striker Carlos Vela announced on Sunday that he has renewed with Los Angeles FC, the best team in MLS today and that in recent days he has closed two major signings with the signings of Welshman Gareth Bale and Italian Giorgio Chiellini.

Just four days after his contract and after months of rumors and unconfirmed news, Vela clarified the unknown about his future this Sunday and guaranteed his continuation with the Los Angeles team in statements to ESPN.

“Yes, the truth is that it was a matter of time. Obviously, both parties were very excited to close the contract,” he explained in the preview of the MLS match that LAFC beat the New York Red Bulls 2-0. Vela himself assisted Colombian Cristian Arango in the first goal and his team was combined as the leader of the MLS Western Conference.

“It’s always business and if one goes one way, the other goes another. But when both sides want to get to the same place, it always ends up happening and that’s how it happened. I’m very happy to be able to continue here “Until I win the title I don’t want to leave here. It’s something that motivated me to continue and hopefully it can be this year,” added Vela, 33.

He praised the signing of Bale and Chiellini

On the other hand, the Mexican praised the signing of Bale and Chiellini. “The team was already one of the favorites (in MLS) before the latest additions. And now with the players participating, I think they make the team and the people more excited,” Vela said.

“I love playing with good people and people like that coming is something that is very positive for everyone. I look forward to playing with them,” he added, noting that it is now up to LAFC players to “show” all the amount they should.

Compiled into the ambitious project

Vela came to LAFC in 2018 from Real Sociedad as the great star of an ambitious soccer project that in just a few years has become one of the top clubs in MLS.

The striker has played 101 games in MLS in which he scored 63 goals.

will continue as captain

The Mexican will continue as captain and leader of the team that on Saturday announced the inclusion of Bale, who will come as a free agent and within a year when his relationship with Real Madrid ends at the end of this month.

Five -time Champions League champion along with Real Madrid, Bale, 32, guided Wales to the second World Cup in its history this June by beating Ukraine in the playoffs for Qatar 2022.

In addition to Vela’s renewal and signing with Bale, the team coached by Steve Cherundolo announced this month the addition of Giorgio Chiellini, a great defensive benchmark for Juventus and Italy’s national team.
