Syrian rebels took the capital Damascus unopposed on Sunday after a lightning advance that saw Assad flee Russia after a 13-year civil war and six decades of autocratic rule by his family.
As the events unfolded, the Syrian football federation announced that it would change the color of its logo and the men’s first team kit. “The first historical change that is happening in the history of Syrian sport, away from nepotism, favoritism and corruption,” it was written.
