The rebels who overthrew the regime of the Syrian president Bashar al-Assad lead to football federation of the country to change the color of the uniform and the logo of the national team, changing from red to green and adding a third star.
Syrian rebels took the capital Damascus unopposed on Sunday after a lightning advance that saw Assad flee Russia after a 13-year civil war and six decades of autocratic rule by his family.
As the events unfolded, the Syrian football federation announced that it would change the color of its logo and the men’s first team kit. “The first historical change that is happening in the history of Syrian sport, away from nepotism, favoritism and corruption,” it was written.
