Schauffele was crowned the Travelers Championship

Date:

Emotionally to the end, the American Xander Schauffele was declared this Sunday Travelers Championship champion with a total of -19 and two strokes ahead of compatriots JT Poston and Sahith Theegala.

It was the second win for the Schauffele this season after the Zurich Classic in New Orleans, which he played in pairs and won with Patrick Cantlay in April.

Schauffele, number 15 in the world, started the final round of Travelers with just one shot ahead and he signed a -2 card on Sunday (four birdies and two bogeys) that served him to score the victory.

Poston, with an impressive -6 on the final day, and Theegala, -3 on the fourth day, pressed on Schauffele but ultimately they didn’t get the title.

On the last day, Patrick Cantlay, also an American, split up. who finished Saturday in second place with a shot from Schauffele but had a poor performance this Sunday with +6.

None of the Hispanic players who attended the Travelers Championship made the weekend cut: Emiliano Grillo of Argentina, Jhonattan Vegas of Venezuela, Mito Pereira and Joaquín Niemann of Chile, and Carlos Ortiz of Mexico.
