Chris Froome: “Next year is the last and going to the Vuelta will be special”

Chris Froomewinner of the Vuelta in 2011 and 2017 edition, confirmed that next year will be his last as a professional rider and acknowledged that It will be special to participate in the Vuelta.

“I don’t have a program yet, but next year will be my last and going to the Vuelta will be special. It’s always a pleasure to run into a date like this“said Froome this Thursday during the presentation of the route of the 90th edition of the competition, where he admitted that he was not thinking about doing a double Tour-Vuelta and indicated that he was “realistic” in knowing that he would not he is going to fight for the general classification in any of them.

The Briton, who was born in Kenya, highlighted the endurance of the route by finishing 10 stages at altitude and featured the passage through historic cycling peaks such as L’Angliru (Asturias).

“This edition will be even more difficult with complex finishes on historic cycling peaks such as L’Angliru. They are a different level of difficulty,” highlighted the four-time Tour de France winner who declared that the Bola del Mundo is the queen stage.

“The queen’s stage is the Bola del Mundo and the most special is L’Angliru, which is a summit that I always try to win, but at the moment it is not possible.. I always have good times there and it will be very special to go this year if I participate.” he explained.
