Minsa added that “at the express request of the family” of the former Peruvian international “further details about his state of health will not be given,” so it asked the media and citizens to “respect this decision , as well as the privacy of the patient and his immediate environment.
“Dos de Mayo Hospital guarantees the special medical care provided by Mr. Hugo Sotil” he concluded.
The former striker, who scored the 1-0 goal that gave Peru the Copa América title in 1975 against Colombia, participated on November 29 in the gala held at the Gran Teatro del Liceo in Barcelona for the entity’s 125th anniversary of Barcelona.
Sotile formed with the Dutch Johan Cruyff one of the most remembered forwards of Barcelona, a 5-0 win over Real Madrid at the Bernabéu stadium in the 1973-1974 season.
During his recent visit to Barcelona, the former player declared himself happy to return “home” and said that the new stadium of the Catalan club is “beautiful”.
