Tiger Woods and his 15-year-old son, Charlieachieved five consecutive birdies over the final nine holes for a total of 59 strokes (-13) under the scramble format, placing them as co-leaders after the first day of PNC Championship of Orlando (USA).
It was the reappearance of the former world number 1 after his last operation in September, the sixth intervention on his back in the last 10 years.
Woods said he set up that surgery to ensure he could recover in time to compete with his son in the PNC Championship for the fifth year in a row.
This is the first time the Woods family has led after the first lap, oddly with the last two champions, the German. Bernhard Langer and his son Jason and the Fijian Vijay Singh and his son Qass.
