Holing an eagle putt and victory on the first playoff hole, the German Bernhard Langer67 years old, has reaffirmed his title in PNC Championship with his son Jason and, in the process, denied American glory Tiger Woods and his son Charliewho made the first hole-in-one of his life this Sunday at age 15, on hole 4 from 161 meters.

Langer, 67, and his son Jason and Woods matched their two rounds, 59-57 in the ‘scramble’ format for a total of 116 strokes (-28), a tournament record, and went into a playoff in Ritz-Carlton Golf Club of Orlando (USA). The previous record will be held John Daly and his son John in 2021 with 27 under par, when they also left Tiger and Charlie Woods in second place.
After his accurate putt from three meters in the playoff, Bernhard Langer won his sixth title in this family competition, the first two with his son. Stephen (2005, 2006) and the last four with Jason (2014, 2019, 2023, 2024). This milestone is another all-time tournament record after breaking the tie with the other five-time champion in history, Raymond Floyd.
In ‘scramble’ mode, each player goes out with his own ball, but for the next shot the team’s most convenient ball is chosen and, from that point, all players play again and so on until the hole is finished , hence the greater possibilities of signing a good return.
Thus, neither Langers nor Woods made any bogeys and they achieved extraordinary shots: Langers made three eagles, 24 birdies and 10 pars and Woods achieved one eagle, 27 birdies and nine pars for a total of 37 holes played, the 36 in the two regular rounds and the extra playoff hole.
