The good times that cycling has been going through in recent years are due to the healthy rivalry that cyclists love. Jonas Vingegaard or Tadej Pogacarwhich really started to take shape with Pogacar’s second victory at Tour de Franceyear where Vingegaard came the 2nd.
Since then the Visma corridor has won two consecutive editions of the Tour de France, 2022 and 2023, while the Leading the UAE Team Emirates has recovered the ‘Grande Boucle’ throne this year, ahead of his eternal rival who had a season marked by a serious fall that he suffered in fourth stage of Itzulia.
This accident not only gave Vingegaard a new perspective on what was happening in the peloton and how Pogacar was spending it, but it also helped him analyze things better, as he acknowledged in ‘ Extra Bladet’.
In these statements to the Danish media, Vingegaard showed his admiration for his rival, seeing that he can win races as diverse as classic, the World Cup or the Tour de France: “I see him winning these races and I’m fascinated by who he is as a cyclist. “I think he’s an amazing cyclist, but obviously in everyday life I focus on myself.”
He believes that his performance numbers are better than in 2022 and hopes that in work he can again surpass Pogacar. “To beat him, I have to level up again next year and I think I can do that too.”
