Viktor Hovland has a broken foot and is in doubt for the start of the PGA Tour this week at Sentry Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii. The Norwegian, therefore, is pushing the deadlines to try to reach the tournament.
Hovland also revealed to Norsk Golf that He no longer works with his swing coach Joe Mayo. This marks the tandem’s second breakup in about a year.
Hovland parted ways with Mayo at the end of 2023 and then brought him back in the spring of 2024 while working with several different coaches. But about a month ago, Hovland terminated Mayo’s services.
“We had a disagreement about the way forward, about what was best for me”said Hovland, 27. “I feel, I have learned so much now and I have so much experience that I no longer need to hold my hand,” she explained.
Despite this, the Norwegian wants to continue to rely on aid. “It’s always good to have someone who can observe what I’m doing, check the steps I’m taking. I am sending some videos to another trainerbut he is more of a consultant. “I’m the boss of my own swing,” the Norwegian concluded.
