The 2021 US Open champion, Emma Raducanu withdrew from the Auckland tournament with a back injury that you have been experiencing in recent weeks. The 22-year-old British player, sixth seed, announced his withdrawal on Tuesday before facing Robin Montgomery.
“I’ve done everything to be ready. I love Auckland and the fans. But unfortunately I had a back problem and I won’t be ready in time,” said Raducanu.
Elise Mertenssecond seed, also withdrew from a tournament that serves as preparation for the Australian Open that begins on January 12 in Melbourne. “I regret not playing my individual tournament because of the injury,” said Mertens. “I wish the tournament all the best and I hope I can come back next year,” he said.
