A few days ago it was announced that Enea Bastianini and Carlo Pernat ended their professional relationship. The Italian rider and the manager have been together since the ‘Beast’ landed in the Motorcycle World Championship in 2014 to compete in Moto3. However, a statement from the representative agency MSM confirmed the separation: “MotoGP sensation Bastianini has entered into a strategic partnership with MSMentrusted the management of his sports career to CEO Enrico Zanarini.”
now, Pernat participated in the ‘GPOne’ podcast: “I will never forget everything we achieved. We started in Moto3, he won the Moto2 title and was able to race for the official Ducati team. He was wearing red which was unlucky for injuries. The KTM thing is a burden for both of us. The choice was logical at the time, but now it seems not the best (…) I feel bad and so does he, but the situation is what it is.. I wanted to follow Enea, but now I can’t,” began the Italian, referring to the signing of Bastianini for the Tech3 KTM team and the financial problems of the Austrian manufacturer.
“I have a health problem, pulmonary emphysema. I used to be a manager who always went to all the races and now I can’t travel anymore. We spoke with Enea and he made the right decision,” argued Carlo Pernat. Furthermore, the Italian wanted to clarify that “He didn’t fire me, that’s not true.. The real problem is my body and the step back is due to my professionalism towards a pilot. “Enea is a great talent and I will continue to help him behind the scenes.”
Asked if the financial crisis was one of the reasons for the separation, the Italian admitted that “in part, but it was a decision we made together. “80% is for health reasons and the remaining 20% is for KTM.”.
