De Minaur will approach Sinner at the Australian Open

Date:

The Australian Alex De Minaur (8) concluded that the last Argentine tennis player was present in the draw, Francisco Cerundolo (31), after winning by a tight 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-6 and 6-3 in the third round of the Australian Open.

“You put in a lot of work in the preseason and here you can see the results. “I’m very happy,” commented De Minaur, who fought for three hours and 52 minutes in 30 degree temperatures, in front of a packed Rod Laver Arena of local fans.

Cerúndolo did not surpass his best record at the Oceanic Grand Slam, after losing a crucial set advantage and breaking his favour. De Minaur, who became the twentieth Australian to reach the fourth round on the banks of the Yarra on four or more occasions, will face young American Alex Michelsen, 20, in the next round.

Michelsen opened the men’s day on Saturday morning with a victory over the Russian Karen Khachanov of 6-3, 7-5(5) and 6-2.

According to the draw, the most logical round of the quarterfinals is an Alex de Minaur-Jannik Sinner. At Melbourne Park it will be a party.
