Everton are red-hot at Tottenham and Postecoglou may be counting his hours

Date:

Ange Postecoglou’s credit is starting to drain on the Tottenham bench. Spurs fell (3-2) against Everton and are now five Premier League games without a win. Closer to relegation than the European positions in England, rumors about a possible dismissal have increased.

The first half is a clear example of what the Greek coach’s team has been doing on many occasions this season. Low intensity, defensive passivity and poor attacking decisions. The complete opposite of Everton, who in the second game with David Moyes on the bench, in his second spell, was all about conviction and verticality.

The goals were pouring in and the halftime deficit could have been historic had it not been for Kinsky, who made some creditable saves.

The first blow was the work of Calvert-Lewin who received it in front, he made a double cut to Gray and gently put it at the short post from the bottom (13′). A good goal. Son responded on a scrimmage play where he was able to identify from the same position as Calvert, but he shot into Pickford’s hands.

The Toffees were brimming with confidence and Ndiaye got hold of the ball at three quarters, straight at Dragusin, who he bicycle-kicked to finish with his left foot in the same corner (30′).

Before the break Dragusin received a strong blow to the eyebrow and had to be treated for a while. When you don’t want to go out, you don’t go out. And to make matters worse, at 45+7′, Gray, in an attempted clearance, took the ball back and put it in his own goal.

After the interval, Tottenham took the field ahead of Everton, a sign that the players had received few but concise instructions. Richarlison, facing his former team, jumped on the field and completely changed his attitude. They continued to attack everything, but Everton were happy to wait near Pickford. The best news for the visitors is the minutes of 17-year-old Mikey Moore. He came in with chutzpah and personality, provoking the attack. From his feet the play was born where, after several rebounds, Kulusevski used the magic of his left foot to kick the ball over Pickford.

It seemed like a mirage until stoppage time when Moore put in a precise cross to the far post which Richarlison scored by stretching and even hitting the stick himself (90+2′).
