Spaniard Jorge Campillo positioned himself as the sole leader of Irish Open golf, played at the Mount Juliet Estate in Thomastown, by delivering this Friday a 68 stroke card (4 under par).
The golfer from Cáceres, who hit 65 on Thursday, amassed 133 hits in two days and leads Polish Adrian Meronk and Paraguayan Fabrizio Zanotti by one, and a group of seven players including Irish Seamus Power of three.
Campillo, who has two titles on the European DP World Tour (2019 Hassan II Trophy and 2020 Qatar Masters), signed six birdies for two bogeys on the second day to rise to the top.
Six shots behind Campillo were Pablo Larrazábal from Barcelona, Santiago Tarrío from A Coruña and Álvaro Quirós from Cádiz. In seven, Madrilenian Sebastián García Rodríguez, and in nine, Asturian Alfredo García Heredia.
Rafa Cabrera Bello, Nacho Elvira and Alejandro Cañizares did not pass the cut.
