Iane Khelif, who won the Boxing Olympic Gold in Paris in Paris amid a controversy for fitting his gender, was referring to defending his title in the 2028 Los Angeles Games and said he was not afraid of the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Trump signed an executive order that prohibited transgender women from conducting women’s sports in the United States last month and called the Khelif “Male Boxer” in his speech after signing the order.
“I’ll give you a direct answer, I’m not transgender,” he told ITV in an interview. “It doesn’t care about me and I won’t scare me.”
The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee on Monday recommended the inclusion of boxing in 2028 and the Khelif Games said it dreamed of reviving its title in California.
«A second gold medal, of course. In the United States, in Los Angeles … (I will defend) with all these gold medals, ”he said.
“In my opinion, the old Imane worked in 50% of its potential, now Khalif’s Imane is more passionate and determined.”
Khelif was not qualified by the International Boxing Association in the 2023 World Championships after a trial, according to the agency, it was disabled to fight as a woman for gender reasons.
However, the Olympic recognition was lost for management reasons, and the International Olympic Committee Khelif allowed to compete in Paris, aggressively defending his position after receiving a strong criticism.
Another rival organism, World Boxing, received a temporary recognition as a international governing body of this sport last month.
The recommendation still requires the IOC’s final approval in his Greece session, and outgoing president Thomas Bach, is confident that the session will approve it.
“At this time, I can say I was a thing of the past,” Khelif said. “As we say in Algeria, that nothing hides should not be afraid.”
The debate on the integration of transsexual athletes and the difference in sexual development (DSD) in women’s sport has been the main issue in the COI president’s career, whose election has been scheduled for Thursday.
“I hope the next president of the ICIDE leads to real sports, remains focused on Olympic principles and defends the values of clean gaming,” Khelif said.
