tennis player in Australia Nick Kyrgios will face the court of Canberrahis hometown, next month in an assault case for an incident last year, local police said Tuesday.
As Australian police explained, Kyrgios is due to appear in court on August 2 in connection with a “common assault” case in December.
This action is related to an incident with his former partner (Chiara Pasari) and, according to the Australian lawyer, Jason Moffettis in the “context of a home relationship”.
[+] Chiara Passari joined Kyrgios last season in tournaments around the world:
“The nature of this complaint is very serious and Kyrgios is taking it very seriously. He has not commented at this time, but we will issue a statement in due course,” Moffett told the Canberra Times newspaper.
Kyrgios will play in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon this Wednesday, the second of his sports career, against the Chilean Christian Garin.
“The ATP is aware of the Australia case involving Nick Kyrgios, but as legal proceedings continue it is not appropriate to comment further at this time,” the ATP men’s governing body told Reuters via email.
In October last year, Kyrgios and his ex -girlfriend were moved to separate rooms in his Adelaide quarantine hotel after an altercation.
Upon showing, the judge will determine if there are charges to apply.
