Tottenham are one of the most active clubs in the transfer market and, after including several players in its squad, it has also activated the casualties chapter.
The arrival of Ivan Perisic, free from Inter, and Richarlison, exchange 58 million fixed euros plus 11.6 in variables, barely leaving room for Steven Bergwijn and the Dutch right winger will pack his bag in the next few hours to return to his country.
His destination is Ajax, who will soon reach a definitive agreement with Tottenham to include Bergwijn, 24, in exchange for a 30 million transfer.
For his part, the player has already agreed to the terms of his contract with Ajax for a few weeks and the only thing missing is OK between the clubs to make the operation official.
Tomorrow Bergwijn is expected to be in Amsterdam to pass a medical examination and sign his contract. This is then when the announcement will take place.
Eleven years after leaving Ajax’s youth academy
Bergwijn started his football career in the lower Ajax categories, but clashed with one of his coaches and in 2011 decided to go to PSV, where the first team he made his debut was in 2014. He played at Eindhoven until he was signed by Tottenham in 2017
Bergwijn, eleven years after that sudden departure, will soon return to Ajax and become his first reinforcement after the departure, among others, of Gravenberch and Mazraoui to Bayern Mñunich and Onana to Inter.
Internationally along with the Netherlands national team, all indicate that Bergwijn will be called up by Louis van Gaal to participate in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
