Alcaraz, Assido’s ambassador, rallied with young people with Down syndrome

Date:

Carlos Alcaraz was appointed ambassador of Association for people with Down Syndrome (Assido), NGO that gave him such recognition during an action where the Murcian tennis player rallied with some of its members.

The award, held at the ceramic workshops of the said association by its members, was awarded to the young Murcian tennis player in May, in conjunction with the solidarity dinner of this group, although Alcaraz could not collect it at that time due to his commitment to sports.

The athlete took advantage of his stay in Murcia, after participating in the Wimbledon tournament, where he reached the round of 16, to join his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, at the Real Sociedad Club de Campo in El Palmar.

});

At these facilities, where Carlitos provided his first rackets, he trained and then played some ball with young people affected by the aforementioned syndrome.

Víctor Martínez, president of Assido, an association founded in Murcia in 1981 -it is the second oldest association in this particular field in Spain- and currently has more than 400 users and three centers where it conducts its work, gave Alcaraz a statue ..

“It’s a pleasure to be able to play tennis with the boys and be named ambassador of Assido. Hopefully we’ll meet again soon,” said the young tennis player, 19 years old and seventh player in the world.
