The central defender of Barça signs for a season and the English club has no buy option
Barça begins to drop ballast. Frenchman Clément Lenglet (27) is already a player for Tottenham, where he will play one season on a rental basis without an option to buy. The centre-back traveled to the London capital this Friday, with the Barca club’s permission, to seal the deal. The Spurs account for a large part of their record, but not all.
The official announcement from both clubs comes after Jordi Cruyff, a leading member of Barça’s sports management, acknowledged during Andreas Christensen’s presentation that his departure was imminent. The deal comes with just enough time to present him and leave with the rest of the squad for the pre-season tour in South Korea.
Lenglet will be Tottenham’s fifth summer signing after Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison. He finishes a four-season leg as a rather gray Barça player, with 160 appearances, 27 in this last campaign and seven goals
