Davidovich defeated Alcaraz in returning to clay

Date:

Alexander Davidovich, number 35 in the world, won his second consecutive Copa del Rey at the facilities of Huelva Entertainment by defeat Carlos Alcarazseventh in the ranking, by 6-4 and 6-1, in an hour and eight minutes.

The tennis player from Malaga, who lifted the trophy last year, repeated the victory with authority in ninety-seven editions by beating the favorite and great star of the Huelva poster.

In addition, he will be the first player to take home an exact copy of the 1912 Cup, which this year begins to be awarded to the winner instead of the classic silver caravel.

Both finalists gave a good game to the over 2,300 spectators who attended the duel.

In the first four games of the final both players defended their serve and showed a high level. They showed great mobility on the court to reach strong and angular connecting shots, to the public’s satisfaction.

In the fifth game, Alcaraz took advantage of Davidovich’s mistakes to break his serve (3-2). However, there is no continuity. In his service he grew from more to less and from 40-0 he went on to provide a break that allowed Davidovich to equalize the score again (3-3).

The man from Malaga grew and dominated through deep blasts and also left his signature on a spectacular lob before proving 4-3.

Alcaraz was able to equalize the serve and put pressure on the other Davidovich, who was able to lift 15-40 and with a great exchange of shots on the net to stay ahead (5-4). Back in serving, the player from El Palmar signed a shot below the legs that unleashed a big “oh” on the stands, but even so, Davidovich was better and got the set 6-4 in 44 minutes of play.

At the start of the second round, Davidovich continued his winning inertia. Full of confidence, he defended his serve and put Alcaraz on the ropes until he broke his serve, followed by a love game to establish a clear 3-0.

As the fight progressed, Alcaraz struggled to find more first serves and open angles, but he faced a Davidovich who returned it all, with more force if possible, and Murcian failed. He answered 4-0 and 5-0. The man from Malaga was in tone and even allowed himself to take long shots, while the other from El Palmar he seemed stunned.

However, he clearly saved 6-0 and continues to try to postpone the defeat. But Davidovich was steadfast in his service and the final was not allowed to continue.

He won the seventh love game to close out a 24-minute set and capture his second consecutive Copa del Rey title.
