The Welshman ELFYN EVANS (Toyota), head of the WRC World Championship, is in charge of the Portugal rally by imposing himself in the first special Figueira da Foz, a urban aspal stretch of 2.94 km, where the fifth stage of the World Cup in the rallies is in the rallies.
The Welsh advanced to French Sébasteien Ogier (Toyota) and Estonian Ott Tänak (Hyundai) for only two tenths, closing the top-5 Adrien Fourmaux and Thierry Neuville, with the winner of the recent Rally of the Canary Islands, Kalle Rovanpera, sixth.
“We know it will be complicated to open the track, but we will fight to waste the first time as much as possible to fight the rest of the rally for a good result,” explained the first leader in Portugal.
