Generalitat will finally hold a double citizen consultation at the Winter Games on July 24thone of them in the region of Alt Pirineu i Aran to decide whether the Government should present a candidacy for this Olympic event, and a second in Berguedà, Ripollès and Solsonès so that they have a position on whether they want the regions it’s “get involved” in the project.
This was announced at a press conference by the Minister of the Presidency, Laura Vilagrà, and Foreign Action and Open Government, Victòria Alsina, after the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, signed the two decrees promoting the call for consultation in the candidacy to host the 2030 Winter Olympics in the Pyrenees.
According to those commandments, there will be two face -to -face consultations -without telematic voting or voting by mail or in advance- with a “clear” question and a binary answer yes or no: in Alt Pirineu i Aran, the question will be asked whether “the Government needs to present candidacy for the Olympic and Paralympic Games”; and in Ripollès, Solsonès and Berguedà, on the other hand, citizens will be asked: “Does your region need to participate in the Olympic and Paralympic Games project?”
