The Champions League returns to the Sports Palace of Murcia on October 4

Date:

UCAM’s next season continues to take shape, not only in the names that will form a squad that only needs to make official the signing of the desired Artem Pustovyi, but also in dates to sign the roadmap for 2022-23.

With a calendar for the Endesa League not yet known, with even more to be expected, the Champions League has already announced the dates and pairs for the first group stage, making the opening day of UCAM on Tuesday, October 4 at 8.30pm, against the only rival still known from group A. For this last place there are six candidates: the English Leicester, the Romanian Voluntari, the Macedonian Skopje, the German Chemnitz, the Turkish Tofas or the Swiss Freiburg. These last two will have to sweat the least in the previous round, with the Ottomans as big favorites.

The match against the latter will be the only one of the group stage to fall for UCAM on Tuesday. Everyone else will leave on Wednesday for the Hungarian city of Szombathely to meet Falco the following week and, after a week off, receive the French Strasbourg. The second round will be almost a month after the end of the first and will not follow the order of the first, with UCAM receiving Falco on November 23, leaving for Strasbourg the following week and playing at the team’s home on the eve of the Christmas holidays with which he opens the match.

The ‘play-in’ for the best of three games between the second and third of the sister groups, which in the case of group A will be group B of UCAM, will take place in January. These qualifications determine the ‘top16’ in which the first of each group will wait, which are four groups of four teams each. From there it jumps to the quarter-finals, also to the best of three games and not a round trip with a points difference like the last time UCAM played the Champions League. Finally, the ‘Final Four’ will be played from 12 to 14 May.
