We’ve been counting for weeks World of sports the negotiating scenario to determine the non-EU foreign players who can play in the new women’s professional women’s league. At first it was yours League including unions and the RFEF They should sit down to discuss this matter. Let’s not forget that for now the federation will not process new licenses for foreign non-EU players until an agreement is reached.
An agreement that is very difficult now, because we are starting from a scenario where the season has just ended, the now 16 professional clubs do not have any registration limit because it is a non-professional league.
The positions between the two parties, as we count the days, are very far apart. Clubs are considering a number close to 12 licenses that will be gradually reduced in the coming seasons but that is the only way to adapt from this scenario where there are no limits.
It has nothing to do with what they think from a union AFE where, as we expected a few days ago, they bet on the three that exist in men’s soccer, understanding that it favors the nationals and benefits the various national teams.
At this point, it is clear that this problem can only be solved by CDS as stated in the Royal Decree of Sports Federations. It clarifies that “The determination of the number of non-EU foreign players authorized to participate in official professional events or competitions at state level, will be carried out by common agreement between the Spanish Sports Federation, the professional that league and the respective association of professional athletes.” In case of disagreement, it will be CDS which will establish “by resolution, the number of foreign non-EU players who will be able to participate in the competitions of professional leagues”.
The professional Arbitration Committee will determine the cost of the referees
And then there’s the cost of arbitrage in the new professional category. Currently, 16 clubs pay 3,300 euros per game last season for arbitration work. Starting with the fact that the local team takes care of this cost; This represents a total of 50,000 euros this past season for the 15 games played by each team in their stadium.
If so, the proposal presented by RFEF in the League for this season of 2022-2023 happens because the clubs pay the same as in the First Division of men’s football. Values far from what the clubs had in mind.
We can see why this matter, as stated in the Royal Decree of Sports Federations, must be resolved by the Professional Arbitration Committee. Also in its second additional provision, it states that “In sporting modalities where there is an official competition of a professional nature, an Arbitration Committee of the professional competition shall be constituted”.
A body to be composed of one member appointed by the League, another by RFEF and a third party appointed by agreement between the parties. If there is no agreement, this will be CDS who will decide And among its duties, also included in this provision, is to set the economic value. It literally says the following about its functions;
“1- Appoint referees to direct the matches
two- Establish rules with economic effect on the arbitration of professional competition
3- Develop programs for updating and standardizing technical standards during the competition, in accordance with the guidelines established by the respective Technical Committee of Referees”
It is clear that this is not a small matter. But, even in the case of reaching the beginning of the league without an agreement, the RFEF should provide arbitration service to the League so that matches are played without any problems.
