Two of the first three heads to enter the bout, French Alizé Cornet (12) and American Amanda Anisimova (15), on Monday passed the first round of the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston (USA), where they were not the Czechs Petra Kvitova (11), who did not finish her first fight.
Alizé Cornet defeated American Alycia Parks and Amanda Anisimova eliminated her compatriot Sachia Vickery, in both cases 6-0 and 7-5.
Petra Kvitova withdrew due to physical discomfort against Polish Magdalena Frech when she won 7-6 (6) and 3-2.
