Ruud reaffirmed the title in Gstaad and snapped Berrettini’s streak

the norwegian Casper Ruud reaffirmed the title of gstaad (Switzerland) after defeating the Italian Matteo Berrettini in equal matches, until the third set, for 4-6, 7-6 (4) and 6-2in 2 hours and 36 minutes.

Ruud, who is theoretically in better form than his rival and has won almost six times as many matches on clay this season, fell in the first set after losing his serve in the fifth game, against a very solid Berrettini at your service.

In the second set the force became more equal with both players holding their serve until the ‘tie break’ where Rudd got the best of his game.

Already at equal strength and in the third and decisive set, the Norwegian led the victory with two breaks in the Italian in the third and fifth games (4-1), thus breaking the transalpine streak of 12 games without defeat from when he returned from injury a month and a half ago, including grass titles in Stuttgart and London.

This is third title of the season for Ruudafter achievements in Geneva and Buenos Aires, both on clay.
