The Minister of the Presidency, Laura Villagraexplained this Monday that the Government is concluding a new proposal for a Catalan candidacy to host the 2030 Winter Olympics which, if proven by the Pyrenees, will be presented to the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE).
In statements to Catalunya Ràdio, Vilagrà indicated that possibly this week the Government will transfer the document to the mayor’s offices, county councils and councils of the territories involved in the Pyrenean and, if “proved” by the local this institution the proposal, it will be transferred to the COE.
Vilagrà justified this last attempt, after talks failed to present a joint candidacy with Aragon: “We cannot miss the opportunity of 2030.”
“Catalonia has earned the merit of having a solo candidacywith external collaborations but with Catalan leadership”, said Vilagrà, who indicated that the Government is ready to “collaborate with other States” in facilities that are not in Catalonia, for example in jumping or sliding disciplines .
