The W Series debuted in Singapore, in support of the Formula One GP

The W Series, the international single-seater motorsport championship for womenannounced this Wednesday that for the first time a race will be held on the circuit of Singapore in support of Formula One Grand Prix from September 30 to October 2.

The race at the Marina Bay street circuit will be the W Series’ first in Asia and will replace the previously announced event in Japan as the seventh race of the 2022 season.

Due to unforeseen operational challenges, the planned W Series race at the Suzuka Circuit will no longer take place.

“The Marina Bay street circuit has built a fantastic reputation for great racing and we’re sure the atmosphere will be amazing when racing returns there after the break. We’re hosting our first race of the Miami street circuit in May with great success. , and I’m sure our drivers will put on another exciting show at Marina Bay and continue to inspire new W Series fans in Asia,” said Catherine Bond Muir, CEO.

Colin Syn, Vice President of Singapore GP Pte Ltd, also said that they are “delighted that Singapore will be the first in Asia to host the W Series as it returns to normal after a two-year hiatus. The W Series is a leader in promoting gender diversity and equality in motorsports”.
