The British Grand Prix will once again be on the 2023 MotoGP world championship calendar, this from August 4 to 6as announced this Sunday by the organizer of the World Cup and the owners of the British circuit.
The 2023 event will also mark the return of the MotoGP “paddock” to the so-called “International Paddock”. and the iconic “Silverstone Wing” complex for the first time since 2012, so the start and finish line is on the Hamilton Straight, with Abbey number one.
Since its opening in 2011, the Silverstone wing has become a symbol of the venue and increasingly symbolic of the circuit’s commitment to sustainability and as part of Silverstone’s Shift to Zero policy, the circuit has already installed 1,342 solar panels on the roof of the Wing’s International Conference and Exhibition Center, and in phase 2 of this project, which to be completed this fall, it will have a total of 2,764 panels that will cover more than 5,200 m2.
The return of MotoGP to the International “Paddock” from 2023 coincides with this important change, because the move to the Hamilton straight will allow MotoGP to hold a more sustainable event, as the paddock will require less temporary infrastructure, use less energy and be more efficient, while the sport and its partners continue that drives development.
