Lara Arruabarrena announced her retirement

“Closing is a very important stage for me. What my life has been, I remember every day. Thanks to this sport that gave me so many experiences, people, friendships. Thanks to all of you who became part of it in one way or another. Thanks to the sponsors who at some point in my career bet on me. Eternally grateful.”

This is the public message in which Lara Arruabarrena announced that she will leave professional tennis at the age of 30. As a teenager, Tolosa went to the CAR of Sant Cugat in Barcelona to finish a promising formation in the main categories.

The Guipuzcoan has become fully professional, adding two individual titles (Bogotá 2012 and Seoul 2016) in four finals (he lost in Bogotá 2017 and 2018), seven doubles trophies, in thirteen finals.

He was a member of the Spanish Federation Cup team from 2015 to 2018 and 2020.

In July 2017, he reached the 52nd place in the individual world ranking. His best position in doubles was reached in February 2016, when he appeared in 28th.

Her last official singles match on the WTA Tour was in the qualifying phase of the last Australian Open, in January. In doubles, she has not competed on the WTA Tour since the Cluj-Napoca tournament, in August 2021.
