Honda plans to launch 10 electric motorcycles by 2025

Date:

Globally, Honda plans to launch a minimum of 10 models of electric motorcycles that year with the aim of increasing sales of electric models to 1 million units over the next five years.

Honda has set its own goal of achieving carbon neutrality across all its products and operations (including manufacturing) by 2050. To cover the usage and demands of customers worldwide, Honda motorcycles cover a wide range.

From compact sized models for city driving (Commuter) to high performance and fun models (Fun), which are used all over the world, both in developed and developing countries. In the latter case, the demand for Commuter models is ahead of
urban travel is very high, as customers depend on motorcycles to carry out their daily functions and mobility. However, the electrification of these models faces challenges such as increased weight or price compared to an ICE model. In addition, the demand for electric models is highly dependent on government incentives and regulations, as well as the
availability of charging infrastructure.

Specifically, and globally, Honda plans to launch at least 10 electric motorcycle models by 2025 with the goal of increasing sales of electric models to 1 million units over the next five years. By 2030, this figure will rise to 3.5 million units (equivalent to 15% of total unit sales).

Taking these circumstances into account, Honda will accelerate the electrification of motorcycles as the main focus of its environmental strategy, while continuing to develop internal combustion engines (ICE) with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality in all of its motorcycles by the 2040s. more, Honda will continue to lead the industry when it comes to protecting the environment.

With the goal of achieving carbon neutrality while meeting a wide range of specific requirements related to electric motorcycles, both by customers and by environments of use, Honda continues its efforts to reduce the CO2 emissions of its ICE engines while maintaining powertrains continue to develop that are compatible with carbon neutral fuels, such as a blend of petrol and ethanol. In this sense, it is worth highlighting the Honda flex-fuel (E100) models to be marketed in Brazil, whose technology will be extended to India, one of the most important motorcycle markets and one of the largest in the world. world. Honda plans to introduce fuel-flex (E20) models in early 2023 and fuel-flex (E100) models in 2025.
