Opel endorses electrified Crossland and Insignia and Manta GSe Elektromod

Today, the Rüsselsheim firm already has 12 different electrified vehicles, ranging from fully electric urban compacts such as the Corsa-e, whose autonomy has increased from 337 to 359 kilometers after the recent WLTP upgrade, ending with SUV alternatives such as the Opel. The Mokka-e is also available in an electric version, and a plug-in hybrid Grandland, without forgetting minivans like the Zafira-e Life or multifunction cars like the Combo-e Life.

The first units of the new Astra are expected to be delivered in June, which, as we will discuss in detail in this article, will be sold in two plug-in hybrid variants (PHEV) and in 2023 with a second pure electric. The first of the PHEVs, with 180 horsepower, combines a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 110 kW / 150 horsepower and electricity that provides 81.2 kW / 110 hp. . Its 12.4 kWh battery gives it 60km of power in the WLTP cycle.

The second plug-in to join the offer this year offers 165 kW / 225 CV of power and a maximum torque of 360 Nm. The gasoline engine in this case delivers 133 kW / 180 hp. Power, while power is transmitted to the front axle by an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Stages until 2028

For some Opel models, this 2022 will be the year of final electrification. Thinking about companies and professionals, Opel is also incorporating electrified versions into all of its commercial vehicle models, a catalog that will be joined in 2024 by the Vivaro-e variant, which contains a hydrogen fuel cell.

Globally, the German brand of the Stellantis Group will have a fully electrified range in 2024, i.e., where all its models will have at least one electrified version. In 2028, all its launches will be cars powered exclusively by batteries, with or without a fuel cell, like the Vivaro-e.
