In the summer of 2023, the 300th, the 100% electric version with a range of 450 km ., will come
The Lexus UX is an eminently urban model, a feature that is further emphasized by the new generation that has just entered the market thanks to its 250h hybrid (184 hp) and 300e electric (204 hp) engines – the latter
will be launched in the summer of 2023, with 450 kilometers of autonomy. Outwardly, it differs in almost nothing from the version four years ago as the smallest crossover model from Lexus, of which more than 22,000 units have been sold in Spain. The renewal arrives at the dealers with a price starting in the
€38,800 in the simplest version up to 61,300 euros in the luxury version and four-wheel drive.
To check
its urban character We tested the Lexus UX 250h on the streets of Berlin. In an environment where you get all the performance. First wandering through busy traffic to end up in the Grunewald Nature Reserve and the River Havel, where we climbed up to the Teufelsberg (“the Devil’s Mountain” in German). Teufelsberg is a mound that was built from a landfill with 120.1 meters above sea level.
At the top are the remains of what used to be the US headquarters.
to spy on the communications of the former GDR and the Warsaw Pact countries during the Cold War. With the fall of the Berlin Wall (1989) and the reunification of Germany, the electronic equipment of the building was dismantled and in 1991 the American and British soldiers withdrew, leaving the abandoned buildings behind. Today, the ruins are a temple where city artists paint their graffiti on the walls, using them as giant canvases to draw colossal images that span the surface of a handball court.
in that environment
street color from the ruins of Teufelsberg, the Lexus UX 250h fits perfectly and offers a touch of elegance that breaks the apparent chaos of these huge anonymous works of art, least important being the author, who is overshadowed by the immensity of the work carried out.
The 2.0-litre petrol engine and 4-cylinder in-line engine, to which two electric motors have been added, play a decisive role in the good behavior of the UX 250h. This combination generates a total power of 184 hp (135 kW). The Lexus model is available with both front-wheel drive
as with the electric four-wheel drive Lexus E-Four, which uses a rear electric motor to achieve high torque. This allows the rear wheels to receive instant thrust when extra cornering grip is needed.
It also has the help of the Vehicle Stability Control System (VSC), which detects a loss of grip on the front axle. The E-Four system also plays a very active role in this sense of safety, actively improving the vehicle’s stability when cornering and adjusting power to the rear wheels to correct any oversteer or understeer.
The rear engine of the UX 250h also serves as a generator for the
regenerative braking of the vehicle, increasing the amount of kinetic energy collected when braking or decelerating. An energy that is stored as electricity in the hybrid battery to reduce consumption in districts where the car can drive electrically.
The UX is built on Lexus’ GA-C Global Architecture platform, a lightweight structure that is also exceptionally stiff and responsive to driver input. The new model improves the result with stiffer steel reinforcements on the tailgate and additional welding points on the rear panel and side elements.
One of the main novelties of the UX 2023 is the new Lexus Link multimedia system.
With a touch screen Replacing the previous remote touch, the system has more intuitive controls than its predecessor, offers more functionality, superior connectivity and responds faster to instructions.
Screen sizes have been increased – depending on trim level – from 7 to 8 inches for the Lexus Link Connect system, with sharper graphics, and from 10 to 12 inches, with high definition, for the Lexus Link Pro. To facilitate interaction, the position of the screen has moved forward by 143mm, allowing you to interact with it in comfort and safety.
The new voice recognition system includes the ability to use the “Hey Lexus” on-board assistant that responds to spoken instructions and makes it easy to make calls, manage audio and climate control and
internet searches. The new speech recognition system is programmed to understand more everyday terms, recognize whether the person speaking is the driver or passenger, and distinguish between ambient noise and instructions, eliminating the need to mute the audio to give instructions .
To further improve connectivity, the new
media system offers smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay (wireless connection) or Android Auto (wired connection). Connectivity now extends to the Lexus Link smartphone app that lets you remotely lock or unlock the doors and turn on the lights, or control the air conditioning or heating before getting in the car.
Inside, the new Lexus UX features perforated leather trim with added
a Kagome pleat effectinspired by the traditional Japanese basket weave, and that the leatherette covering has a new stitching pattern, inspired by the ancient Japanese Sashiko quilting technique.
Another improvement on the aesthetic side is the trim on the dashboard which now has the appearance of the “washi” paper grain, typical of the sliding doors of traditional Japanese houses. On all models, the top of the instrument panel is completely black and the on/off button is silver.

We must also highlight the improvements made to the security system
Lexus safety system +. The vehicle now has Junction Turn Assist, a feature that increases safety when making left and right turns at an intersection, and Emergency Assist, which, when enabled in automatic mode, makes minor corrections to the steering wheel to avoid exits.
In addition, the cruise control with
dynamic radar now has a speed reduction feature when cornering, which automatically adjusts the speed of the vehicle according to the radius of the bend in the road.
