About 10% of road accidents occur in the
roundabouts. Whether due to ignorance or non-compliance with regulations, roundabout accidents occur again and again and often the causes are the same:
errors when entering or exiting it.
To prevent this kind of accident, the
Civil Guard recalls from time to time what the basic traffic rules are on multi-lane roundabouts and has published a series this Wednesday
indications.
This is clearly observed in the example of the Guardia Civil. When entering a roundabout and exiting via the first exit, the vehicle must remain in the outside lane.
However, if we want to escape the roundabout later, we have to stay in the middle lane until our exit is approaching and only then cross into the outside lane. If traffic makes it impossible, the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) indicates that it is safest to take another exit and signal our intention so that other road users know that we want to leave the roundabout.
The DGT warns that there are roundabouts
a crossroads different from the rest because there is no priority rule. In your case, the vehicle driving through the roundabout has priority as long as a sign or traffic light does not indicate otherwise.
They also point out that when entering a roundabout, this should be done as much as possible from the right lane.
