Toyota Spain launches the GR86 with stiffer body, lower center of gravity and more powerful engine than its predecessor

After its European launch last May, enthusiasts of pure sports driving can now buy the new Toyota GR86, Toyota’s third global GR model, together with the GR Yaris and GR Supra from EUR 34,900 in the official network of Toyota Spain dealers.

The new GR86, like the rest of Toyota’s GR models, benefits directly from Toyota’s commitment to the world of top-level competition through Toyota Gazoo Racing. Replacing the already legendary GT86, the new coupe is an evolution in every way, but retains the classic front-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration.

The engine is still a high-revving four-cylinder boxer, but with a larger displacement, giving it noticeably more power and torque. For example, the new GR86 is powered by a 2.4-liter boxer engine and 172 kW / 234 CV –17% more than in the GT86–, enabling it to deliver excellent performance: 226 km/h top speed and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h u, more than a second better than the GT86 (6.3 seconds).

The maximum torque has also been increased, to 250 Nm, with the delivery time, which is now much earlier, at 3,700 rpm – 205 Nm at 6,600 rpm in the GT86 – has also been adjusted. The result is smoother yet powerful acceleration right up to high engine speeds, delivering rewarding performance, especially when accelerating out of corners.

The new GR86 will be marketed in Shichiroyi Black, Kyuzo Red and Gorobe White and in a single version, which includes a long list of features as standard, such as 17-inch two-tone (silver-black) alloy wheels; dual technology headlights; 215/45 R17 tyres; dual zone air conditioning; keyless entry and starting (EMS) system; 8″ multimedia center screen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; informative 7″ TFT screen with three display modes depending on the selected driving mode; black fabric upholstery; rear view camera; Torsen type self-locking differential and 6-speed manual transmission.

Optionally, in addition to the paint, you can choose just one of two packages designed to give customers exactly what they demand based on the use and performance they expect from their GR86. The so-called ‘Touring pack’, designed for customers who like more dynamic road driving, includes 18-inch black alloy wheels, 225/40 R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and Pagid Racing sport brake pads. ‘Circuitpack’ for its part makes the GR86 the perfect weapon for track riding. The latter includes 18″ Braid Forged I forged alloy wheels – developed exclusively for the model in combination with the brake kit – with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, AP Racing brake kit with 6-piston front calipers, 350 mm floating discs with aluminum core , metal hoses and sports pads.

The new GR86 is already on sale in the Official Toyota Spain Dealer Network for €34,900, which becomes €38,400 if you opt for the ‘Touring pack’, or €41,400 for the ‘Circuit pack’. The most accessible way to own one of the exclusive GR86s is Toyota Easy, Toyota Spain’s finance program that allows you to put it in the garage for just €300/month – €386/month if you opt for the version with ‘Touring’ Pack ‘ or €459/month for the version with ‘Circuit Pack’–.

Like the rest of the models in the Toyota range, the new GR86 can count on a warranty of up to 10 years thanks to Toyota Relax, the program that gives access to an extension of the official warranty year after year by simply performing periodic maintenance on the Internet Toyota Spain Dealer Officer.
