With the IONIQ 5, current Car of the Year in the world, Hyundai is preparing a product offensive within the IONIQ line to advance its zero-emissions mobility strategy

Hyundai Motor Group has set itself the target
carbon neutrality by 2045, including both the production and operation phases. The person responsible for giving the first impetus to this sub-brand was IONIQ 5, which recently upgraded its battery with a higher capacity to increase its autonomy. For example, the initial 72.6 kWh battery has been replaced by a higher capacity of 77.4 kWh, enabling it to reach 500 kilometers of autonomy on a single charge.

IONIQ introduces the
Global modular platform from Hyundai Electric (E-GMP), enabling it to offer a wheelbase of 3,000 mm and an innovative interior design based on moving parts on a completely flat surface due to the lack of a transmission tunnel. Likewise, this platform allows the car to reach a maximum power of 225 kW (306 hp) and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.

The design calls
the bold attitude of the Hyundai Pony, the company’s first production model. It also redefines the concept of timeless design. The aero wheels reflect the parametric pixel design scheme and are offered in 19-inch and 20-inch diameters. Customers can choose from nine exterior colors, including five nature-inspired shades exclusive to IONIQ 5.

It has a fast electricity charging capacity and a long driving range:
reaches 481 km (WLTP) in combined cycle and 686 km (WLTP) in the city when the battery is fully charged. Thanks to the ultra-fast charging of the IONIQ 5, drivers don’t have to worry about waiting too long before continuing to their destination.

Using a 350 kW charger, the IONIQ 5 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, while a short five-minute charge can contribute up to 100 kilometers of range (without a trailer), according to the WLTP.

The model is available with a wide range of electric drive configurations. Customers can choose between two battery options, 58 kWh or 72.6 kWh, and
two engine configurations electric, either with rear motor only or with front and rear motors in the case of the 72.6 kWh battery. All these variants offer exceptional autonomy and offer a top speed of 185 km/h.

One of the strengths of the IONIQ 5 is its innovative In-Vehicle Charging (V2L) feature, essentially making it a great power bank on wheels, and an optimal accessory when you’re off-grid and on the go. With a V2L port under the back seat that
can be activated when the vehicle is on and one in the external charging port (using the included converter, even when the vehicle is off) delivering up to 3.6kW of power, this feature can be used to charge and power just about anything, from a smartphone or laptop on the go to a coffee machine, an eBike and even an entire caravan.

Thanks to V2L, the environmental impact of an on-road adventure can be further reduced. It can be used to power a hob, griddle and griddle, eliminating the need to use gas, charcoal or wood when cooking and making the road trip virtually 100% emission free.

Recycled materials are used in manufacturing. This is how the upholstery of the seats and the armrests of the doors are made
with recycled plastic bottles, wool and leather processed with vegetable oil, while the door panels are made of paperette, a recyclable material that feels like paper. The mats are made from ECONYL, a regenerated nylon yarn made from recycled fishing nets. It also has the Hyundai SmartSense driver assistance equipment, which includes more than 20 different technologies.

Between them,
active driving assistant Highway 2 (HDA 2) with Lane Change Assist, Smart Cruise Control (SCC), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Collision Assist Blind Spot Monitor (BCA), Blind Spot Monitor (BVM), Forward Collision Assist (FCA) or Rear Occupant Alert (ROA).
