The most stolen car brands in Spain

Date:

The manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is most prone to theft

In Spain, about 100 vehicles are stolen every day. A truly alarming figure, given that our country historically occupies third place, behind only Italy and the United Kingdom. And according to a recent survey by carVertical, a vehicle history checking platform, more than 1,100 stolen vehicles were discovered.

Although the actual magnitude of car thefts is much higher, these cars are common
circulate on the black market. It is extremely rare for stolen cars to find their way back into the car market, but more than a thousand cases show that it is still possible to come across a vehicle that can be stolen.

More than 50% of detected stolen cars were made between 2014 and 2019. However, the most popular vehicles among thieves were made in 2017 (9.7% of all stolen vehicles discovered on the car history platform).

car brands
most popular stolen they are Mercedes-Benz (14.7% of all stolen vehicles), BMW (14.4%), Audi (10.4%), Ford (7.8%) and Volkswagen (6.8%).

First of all, it should
avoid isolated parking spaces in the evening. Free vacant lots and parking spaces are often not or hardly secured or guarded. They are a great opportunity for thieves trying to steal vehicles, as the lack of security is compounded by the lack of staff who can at least watch over the cars. If we don’t have our own parking space, the ideal would be to leave it in a paid car park or in an area close to where we are staying.

If we do not use the car every day, we should regularly check the place where we parked it, to make sure it is still there: if we are stolen, the sooner we report it, the more likely we will get it back to us vehicle. On the days when we do not take the car with us, it is useful to check whether it is still there so that we can act quickly if it is not there. According to LoJack data, after
48 hours is highly unlikely to recover Car.

Signs such as broken glass in parking lots are a sign that it is an area suffering from vandalism or theft and so it is better to find another place that at least seems safer.

When we lock the car remotely with a smart key, we always have to check if the car is locked. There are criminals who can be around with a brakeman and intercept the signal that the key releases to lock the car. If they succeed, they don’t even have to force the car, because it’s all the way open.

Also, installing or having an anti-theft system is the first step in deterring non-tech savvy thieves, but it takes a bit more to stop the more sophisticated thieves. A radio frequency system (it cannot be shielded and is traceable in the most inaccessible places) is much more effective in case of theft, because you know the location of the vehicle at any time.
