Honda equips the new XL750 Transalp model with a 750cc parallel twin engine

One of the great innovations from Honda and the market for 2023 is undoubtedly the return of the evocative Transalp name, reincarnated in the XL750 Transalp. Inheriting the spirit of its illustrious predecessors, this model is designed to feel comfortable everywhere (from rush hour commutes to long journeys, from a circuit to a mountain pass).

These versatile capabilities are backed by an all-new 750cc parallel-twin engine that offers great punch in the low and mid range, along with addictive character and sound from the 270-degree crankshaft and new exhaust. Peak power of 67.5 kW (90.5 hp) arrives at 9,500 rpm and maximum torque of 75 Nm at 7,250 rpm.

Electronic rider aids via the Throttle By Wire electronic throttle allow the driver to choose from five riding modes to select the desired combination of engine power, engine braking and traction control Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with integrated Wheelie Control.

The new engine is housed in a lightweight, diamond-like steel frame for light, agile and confidence-inspiring handling in any situation. For smooth on-road handling and good off-road absorption, the Transalp is fitted with a 43mm Showa USD SFF-CATM front fork and a Pro-Link-operated rear shock. A 21-inch front wheel, combined with an 18-inch rear wheel, offers versatility on and off the road.

The Transalp’s extensive list of specifications is topped off by a five-inch TFT color screen that provides all the crucial information and allows all systems to be managed. It has connectivity for Android and iOS devices through the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system. All lighting is LED; the turn signals switch themselves off and also incorporate Emergency Stop Signal technology to warn other road users of sudden braking.

The Transalp’s styling has been led by Honda’s R&D center in Rome under the ‘Friendly Toughness’ guideline. Its presence is an adventurous statement, while the fairing and windshield work together to provide protection from the wind. The overall image is impeccable, simple and clean.

The Transalp will be available in three eye-catching colours: matte iridium gray metallic, matte ballistic black metallic and a modern interpretation of the classic Ross White Tricolor.
