Market. Toyota presents the new GR 86 in Spain, with prices from 32,900 euros
Toyota has chosen Spain, in particular the roads in the provinces of Seville and Huelva and the Monteblanco Circuit, located in the city of La Palma del Condado (Huelva), for the European launch of the new Toyota GR 86, the third global GR model from Toyota. Toyota, along with GR Yaris and GR Supra.
The new GR 86 has been designed with pure driving pleasure in mind, as an analog car for the digital age. The GR 86 is the new entry-level model of Toyota’s GR range, bringing a sporty driving feel and performance to a wider audience. The new GR 86 is based on the GT86, the model that marked Toyota’s return to sports car production since its launch in 2012. The new GR 86 retains the classic front-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration.
The new GR 86 is equipped with a new normally aspirated 2.4-litre boxer engine that significantly increases power and torque, producing 172 kW / 234 hp at 7,000 rpm and 250 Nm at 3,700 rpm. Its acceleration figure from 0 to 100 km/h is excellent: 6.3 seconds.
The design of the new GR 86 is a reference to Toyota’s long tradition of sports cars, especially the acclaimed 2000GT and AE86, with aerodynamics directly derived from the competition.
Toyota engineers worked on the design of the new GR 86 around three priorities: a very rigid body, reduced weight and a lower center of gravity. The goal was to achieve more agile performance and response.
The new GR 86 will be on sale in Europe for only two years, making it an exclusive proposition for customers: it will be available ‘until stocks last’.
The launch in Spain will take place in the coming weeks, with prices starting from 32,900 euros.
