Ford Pro presents the E-Transit range, an ecological alternative for logistics and delivery companies
The electric transition is not exclusive to passenger cars and motorcycles, heavy vehicles will sooner or later have to dare to change and the different brands have already started adapting them accordingly. In this context, Ford presented Thursday in Barcelona
the electric version of the Transitthe best-selling van in the world.
Renamed E-Transit, the new American van aims to be an ecological alternative for logistics and delivery companies that mainly operate in the city. Like the Transit range, the electric version is offered in three body styles: van, double van and chassis cab, allowing the customer to adapt the van to his needs. The simplest costs about 70,000 euros and they all have a single motor in the
rear axle which, depending on the model, can be 135 kW or 198 kW (170 hp and 270 hp) and 430 Nm maximum torque in both options.
E-Transit vans can carry about two tons of cargo and can tow up to 750 kilos. The battery has a net capacity of 68 kWh, making it a
autonomy of 317 kilometers In addition, it maintains the same payload as a traditional combustion engine vehicle. This is because the battery is located on the ground, suspended between the axles, which gives the vehicle stability and increases the available storage space.
Ford Pro – the division responsible for commercial vehicles – has been asking customers for years about their habits with their models. According to the company, these studies have resulted in each Transit range user traveling an average of 111 kilometers per day, making it perfectly feasible to use the E-Transit normally. In this sense,
the company installs its own chargers for a price of around 700 euros and offers a consultancy service with the customer based on the needs of their fleet.
However, please note that in case the customer needs to deliver on time over a long distance and the battery runs out, the E-Transit
fast charging of up to 115 kW for a charge time of 15 to 80 percent in just half an hour In addition, Ford offers the thousands of chargers in Spain in its intelligent navigation system and calculates long routes based on traffic and supply points.
To save autonomy, the range offers the possibility to reduce
default the speed of your vehicles at 90, 100 or 130 kilometers per hour. It also offers standard heated seats, heated windshield, ergonomic controls and a 12-inch touchscreen to control everything. As for the accessories, it is possible to add a 360 degree camera with a ‘pre-collision’ assistant to the vehicle, which stops the car in case of danger, and three sockets to connect any tools.
As far as driving is concerned, driving an E-Transit is quite comfortable, a real ‘relaxation’ exercise, allowing the delivery person to work long days without suffering. Like all electric cars, it is an automatic car that does not have a gearbox, it only has a small wheel to select the driving mode, and from here
everything accelerates and brakes in complete silencewithout the occasional annoying rattle of the engine.
