Without braking, an 89-year-old drove his car into the wall of an inn in Gmunden (Upper Austria). His wife (90) died in the passenger seat.
The 89-year-old from the Gmunden district drove his car on Scharnsteinerstraße from Gmunden towards Baumgarten on Wednesday at 12.15 pm. His 90-year-old wife was in the passenger seat. Near the intersection with Engelhofstraße, the man steered his car to the right for a previously unknown reason and then hit the wall of an inn without braking. The woman suffered fatal injuries.
Lenker was flown to Wels
The driver of the vehicle was injured to an unknown extent and was flown by rescue helicopter Martin 3 to hospital in Wels after receiving emergency medical assistance. Wels’s prosecutor ordered an autopsy on the body.
