The fire service in Madrid had to go on an unusual mission on Tuesday: they had to rescue a car from a metro station in the south of the Spanish capital. A drugged man stole the vehicle and drove it into the station moments later.
Using a pulley system, the fire service lifted the car step by step up a wide staircase in the Plaza Elíptica metro station.
A 36-year-old man stole the vehicle from a metro parking lot in the nearby town of Getafe late Monday night. The car belongs to an employee who left the key in the ignition, Spanish media reported, citing the police.
Car thief tested positive for cocaine
It is not yet clear exactly how the driver managed to send the stolen vehicle into the station. He probably came to Plaza Elíptica station via an exclusive bus service. The 36-year-old has been arrested. Police conducted an alcohol and drug test, which came back positive for cocaine.
