Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko acknowledged Austria’s support. “While Austria, like Ireland, Malta and Hungary, does not supply weapons to Ukraine, the Austrian government is making significant efforts to minimize the negative impact of Russian aggression against Ukraine.” Nikolenko also appreciates Vienna’s support in implementing EU sanctions policies such as Ukraine’s EU integration.
“And we appreciate that very much,” Nikolenko emphasized on Tuesday evening to the Ukrainian online newspaper “European Pravda”. The federal government plans to repair 3,000 households in the Kiev region that were destroyed by the Russian invading forces.
Caritas Austria implements project
The project with a total cost of five million euros is being carried out through Caritas Austria. A memorandum is currently being prepared between the NGO and the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, Nikolenko said.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform that Austria and Hungary are the only two EU countries not supplying arms to Ukraine.
